Mark L. Ginkel, MD was born in Des Moines Iowa. Shortly after his father’s graduation for medical school the family moved to San Diego where he received his primary and secondary education. He attended San Diego State University for his undergraduate degree and after deciding to pursue medicine he attended Saint Louis University School of Medicine. He returned to California for Internship, residency and fellowship attending University of California Irvine. After completing advanced training in interventional cardiology and pacing, he remained in California practicing initially in Los Angeles area and subsequently in Ventura. Shortly, after completion of fellowship Dr. Ginkel met the love of his life, his wife Marcy. As a clinical nutritionist, Marcy keeps healthy living foremost in their lifestyle. Marcy originally moved from East Lansing Michigan where her father is a professor at Michigan State University, in the early 1990’s. They have been married for over ten years and have been blessed with two beautiful boys Brandon and Cameron (C.J.). They are a close-knit family that enjoys most outdoor activities. In particular, they enjoy skiing, golf or just spending time together. After nearly 13 years of practice in California, desiring a more family oriented lifestyle, Dr. Ginkel has decided to bring his unique skills to Northern Michigan. Dr. Ginkel is skilled at complex cardiac intervention, pacing, preventative and consultative cardiology. He enjoys people and is looking forward to getting to know the area.
