William L. Meengs, MD
William L. Meengs, MD, FACC, FSCAI has been a practicing cardiologist in
Petoskey since 1975. He is considered by many to be an important
pioneer in the treatment of cardiovascular disease in Northern Michigan.
Dr. Meengs has held many leadership positions within the medical
community, including Chairman of the Department of Cardiology and
Cardiac Surgery, Burns Clinic Medical Center, P.C. (1985-89); Director
of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Northern Michigan Hospital
(1992-2000); Chairman of the Department of Cardiology, Northern Michigan
Hospital (1999-2005); and President of Petoskey Cardiology (1999-2004).
Dr. Meengs graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School in
1968. He completed his residency training in Internal Medicine in 1973
and his fellowship in Interventional Cardiology in 1975 at University
Hospital in Ann Arbor. He is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease,
Interventional Cardiology, and Nuclear Cardiology by the American Board
of Internal Medicine.
Focusing foremost on his private practice, Dr.
Meengs sees patients in Rogers City, and Petoskey. In addition, he has
been actively involved for over three decades in cardiovascular research
and has numerous published articles, abstracts, grants, and
presentations to his credit. His special interests include research in
coagulation, coronary intervention, pacing, and general cardiac
evaluation.
