Harry T. Colfer, MD
Harry T. Colfer, MD has been a practicing cardiologist in Petoskey,
Michigan since 1983. He has been consistently voted "Most Admired by his
Peers" since 1996. In 2008, Dr. Colfer was named a "Top Doc" by
Traverse Magazine.
Initially in partnership in the Burns Clinic, and now in
private practice as Michigan Heart and Vascular, Dr. Colfer’s philosophy
is to treat each patient in a highly individualized manner and
integrate the latest technological advancements into our services. He
has special expertise in interventional cardiology (angioplasty,
coronary stents, etc.), and in management of coronary heart disease and
congestive heart failure.
Dr. Colfer went to medical school at the University of
Cincinnati and graduated in 1976. He completed his postgraduate training
at the University of Michigan followed by a fellowship in cardiology.
Dr. Colfer joined the faculty at the University of Michigan in 1981, and
with Dr. Joseph Walton, the director of the Catheterization Laboratory,
started the interventional Cardiology Program there in 1980. After
joining the medical staff at Northern Michigan Regional Hospital, Dr.
Colfer started the cardiac rehabilitation program, as well as the clinical
research program.
Though Dr. Colfer’s primary professional activity is
clinical cardiology, he has an interest in clinical research and once
was the Medical Director of the Nisus Research Department at Northern
Michigan Regional Hospital.
Dr. Colfer is board certified in Internal Medicine,
Cardiovascular Disease, and is a Fellow of the American College of
Cardiology.
