Louis A. Cannon, MD
Louis A. Cannon, MD, FACA, FCCP, FACC, FACP, is a past Judah Volkman
Scholar in Residence, quadruple board certified, and has been named in
the Top 100 CardioVascular Specialists in America. He has lectured
worldwide and recently performed potentially life-saving procedures in
Singapore, as well as at the Montreal Heart Institute on a 14 yr old
girl. He is the previous Founding President of the Michigan
CardioVascular Institute in Saginaw, Michigan. In 2004 he accepted a
position as the Program Director of the new Northern Michigan Hospital
Heart and Vascular Institute and serves as President of the Cardiac and
Vascular Research Center of Northern Michigan, bringing over two decades
of clinical trial experience using cutting edge technologies to treat
cardiovascular disease.
Dr. Cannon graduated from Wright State School of
Medicine in Dayton, Ohio with an honorary Alpha Omega Alpha degree in
1984. He did his residency training in Akron, Ohio, in a combined
Internal/Emergency medicine program, becoming board certified in both.
He then completed an Interventional Cardiology fellowship at the
University of Cincinnati in 1991. Dr. Cannon is a recognized leader in
cardiovascular research and development. His current national (medical)
research focuses on drugs which reduce blockages from forming inside
heart stents and the use of ultrasound to open blockages that are
totally occluded. He is excited about the opportunities for his patients
to gain access to the world’s best technologies available for the
treatment of cardiovascular disease. Dr. Cannon has been issued two U.S.
medical patents in the field of cardiovascular treatment and has been
listed as one of “Americas Top Cardiologists” for years.
Dr. Cannon is
board certified in Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Cardiovascular
Disease, Interventional Cardiology, and is a Fellow of the American
College of Cardiology, the American College of Chest Physicians, the
American College of Physicians, the American College of Angiology, the
American Association of Emergency Physicians, and the Society for
Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions. He has been inducted
into Who’s Who in American Medicine and has served on the board of
governors of the Michigan Chapter of the American College of Cardiology.
He has hundreds of publications including abstracts, manuscripts,
textbook chapters and invited editorials.
